HIGH SCHOOL Named to Advanced Placement School Honor Roll

Henry Hudson Regional School has been recognized for student success in Advanced Placement program while broadening participation

Highlands, NJ – College Board announced that Henry Hudson Regional School has been named to the 2025 Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning a Bronze distinction.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening participation. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing the college-going culture, providing students with opportunities to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

Henry Hudson Regional School had 60% of seniors who took at least one AP Exam during high school, and 42% of seniors who scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam.

Henry Hudson Regional is proud to have the following:

● 12 Advanced Placement Offerings

● Opportunities for 9th - 12th graders to take Advanced Placement

● 10 Advanced Placement Certified Staff

“We continue to be proud of our staff and students for choosing the challenge of advanced college-level coursework. Seeing students starting in 9th grade take and pass college-level AP content shows how talented our students are and how skilled our educators are in preparing them for post-secondary education. We expect this distinction to be the first of many.” Kevin McCarthy, Principal

“AP gives students the opportunity to engage with college-level work, earn college credit and placement, and build professional career skills they can use no matter what path they choose after high school,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “Congratulations to this year’s AP School Honor Roll recipients for proving it’s possible to expand participation in these rigorous courses and still drive strong performance.”

Henry Hudson Regional School is truly a gem overlooking the picturesque Jersey Shore. Our students begin the day with breakfast overlooking the sunrise, and many end the day on our fields overlooking the Twin Lights Lighthouse with the “million dollar view”. We are, of course, more than just our views. Inside the walls of HHRS, our students and staff embark on a journey of excellence, not just in academics but in the arts, athletics, and character development. Whether your pathway is lined with mathematics, music, or writing, you will find the doors here. Each Admiral who joins the proud line of alumni will have been shown every pathway, given the skills to walk it, and the wisdom to choose it. We are proud to serve the communities of Atlantic Highlands and Highlands with excellence in Academics, Arts, and Athletics.

College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 40 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
